Solar Hot Water Heating Systems
Solar Essence lead the market in our range of solar systems. We can install a Solar System that will incorporate fully into almost any existing home set up. Others cannot!
A complete solar solution
There are several different options available depending on your requirements and your existing system and boiler type. All hot water only systems are fully up-gradable at any time in the future to incorporate a full dual heating system.
All Solar Essence cylinders are manufactured to our own exacting design specifications by Gledhill building products Ltd. Gledhill are the UK’s largest and oldest established manufacturer of hot water storage systems, Our cylinders are available in a wide variety of sizes and have a number of specific uses, depending on the requirements of individual systems. What they all have in common is that they are of the highest quality and are much better insulated than the latest building regulations require.
An entry level solar system utilizing your existing hot water cylinder, hence keeping the price down. Your existing cylinder must be a good condition to be able to accommodate a new solar coil installed in place of your immersion heater.
This cylinder is used to store hot water in a standard system i.e. one which has a hot water cylinder already fuelled by an indirect gas or oil boiler. It contains one coil which is attached to the solar system as the primary source of water heating and a second coil which is linked to the existing boiler as a backup, and an electric immersion heater.
‘E’ - electric single coil
Used where the existing system is all electric with no boiler. The cylinder has a solar coil as the primary source of water heating, with 1 or 2 (depending upon what is installed in the original cylinder) electric immersion heaters as backup.
‘UP’ - unvented pre-feed single coil
These cylinders are used to pre-heat water before it is transferred at mains pressure to incorporate into a existing unvented system, to pre feed the main storage cylinder.
‘UT’ - un-vented twin coil
Replaces the existing cylinder in a un-vented system. this is the same as the previous twin coil system but contained in a non vented (pressurised) cylinder.
‘C’ - unvented cylinder with specialist combination valves
Suitable for homes that have a combination (combi) boiler. Combination boilers operate on mains pressure water and heat the water on demand, thus have no hot water cylinder. It is important that there is the required space to install a new cylinder near to your combination boiler, provided there is we can then integrate the new un-vented cylinder to provide mains pressure hot water from a solar source when available instead of your combination boiler.
